After the match, The Undisputed Era stands tall in the ring as the boos ring out from the crowd. Their music hits and we go to replays. Fish and Strong exit the ring but Cole comes back and stands over Lumis, talking trash and holding the title in his face. Lumis reaches up and pulls Cole down into the Kata Gatame submission. Fish and Strong hit the ring to help him but The Velveteen Dream comes out to join them. Dream sends Fish into the barrier but the segment ends with Cole standing in the middle of the ring with the title in the air. The lights suddenly go out. Scarlett appears on the stage with a spotlight on her. A “fall and pray!” chant starts up from the crowd. Scarlett comes to ringside and places an hourglass in the ring. She turns it upside down and the sand starts falling. Scarlett shoots Cole a look and heads back up the ramp as he watches her, with a spotlight on the hourglass as well. Cole clutches his title as Scarlett looks back at him from the stage. She heads to the back and Cole stares at the hourglass. NXT goes off the air.
The match between Tommaso Ciampa and Karrion Kross was quick enough that it won’t go on any list of the best TakeOver matches ever. That’s for sure. But the biggest takeaway was how strong Kross looked in his victory.
Ciampa has been at the top of NXT for the past few years. For Kross to come in and effectively squash him before making the soul of the black-and-gold brand pass-out is a definitive statement.
If you weren’t sold on Kross yet, this was WWE’s message to get on board with him now. He looked more dominant tonight than even the NXT champion.
This is a good sign for his future and the next era of NXT.
Scarlett follows Ciampa dow the ramp, and he’s focused on her when Ruff attacks and gets a quick cover at the bell. He uses his speed to get in another shot and evade before he gets caught with a high knee. The Blackheart works Ruff over in the corner while locking eyes with Scarlett, then blows her a kiss before hitting Fairy Tale Ending.
He points at his watch and waves bye-bye to Scarlett. As she leaves, Kross comes up on the big screen, or his eyes do, anyway
While Kross and Scarlett celebrate in ring, Ciampa’s music hits. Ciampa walks out and has a microphone. He introduces himself and says “this is my home.” He says that attacking him was done to make a point and he understands and respects it.
He continues to talk up Kross and say that he is special, with his aura, his entrance. Ciampa stands on the apron and Scarlett invites him into the ring. Ciampa says that he is special as well, and he challenges Kross to a match at TakeOver: In Your House. Ciampa and Kross stare down each other in the ring, then Ciampa retreats up the ramp.
We get a promo advertising the Cruiserweight Championship tournament and covering every competitor’s record thus far, then we go to commercial.
Karrion Kross made an impressive entrance led by Scarlett before refusing to waste time. A few devastating Saito suplexes set up Kross to lock in the Kross Jacket for the tapout.
